Expanded Pictures:
Das Handlungsgefüge des fotografischen Bildes
im Kontext von Internet und Social Media

The present work describes, examines and discusses the meaning and function of the photographic image and in particular of mobile phone photography in the context of the internet and social online networks. In the field between social-scientific theories, photo- and media-theoretical discourse as well as aesthetic artistic perspectives, it is explored which concrete visual and social forms the current mobile digital pictorial practice has assumed, how its use within the global social everyday life presents itself, and in which way its special interaction from shooting, uploading, sharing contributes to new human behaviors and to the creation of new cultural realities.
